I recently visited Scottsdale, Arizona and am excited to tell you about some of the best bakeries in the area. There were so many cool shops, but for the moment, I’ll tell you about Sweet Dee’s Bakeshop.
I love anything over-the-top and girly, and this bakery did not disappoint. From floor to ceiling, the bakery was accented with the color pink. Speaking of the ceiling, it had a beautiful floral wallpaper that boasted pinks, purples and whites. I was glad I looked up. Because not everyone wants basic, even the rims of the drinking glasses at Sweet Dee’s are accented with what looked like white frosting and multi-colored sprinkles. That’s right, the glasses are uniquely created with frosting and sprinkles partially drizzling down the rims. I mean the whole shop is glam on steroids.
They Put Thought into Their Products
Now that I’ve gotten the décor out of the way, let’s talk about the baked goods themselves. First, this is a bakery that clearly puts thought into their offerings. The sugar cookie cutouts included faux bottles of beer, St. Patrick Day designs, (likely due to the fact that I visited shortly after the holiday), baseball designs etc. But more specifically, the presentation of baked goods indicated that Sweet Dee’s takes creativity to another level. For instance, the pecan pie had pieces of croissant draped in chocolate on the top. I also saw miniature baseball caps filled with sweet treats.
What is more, the bakery goes out of its way to celebrate important moments in pop culture. When the movie “Barbie” came out in 2023, the whimsical shop developed a Barbie-themed menu complete with unique brunch, drink, pastry offerings and snack offerings including pink Lay’s chips.
It Looks and Tastes Good
In the end, I enjoy bakeries that not only look good but whose products are good. Sweet Dee’s didn’t disappoint. My daughter tried and raved about their cookie cutouts, giving them a 10 out of 10. I purchased a bag of mini cinnamon sugar donuts, and they were finger-licking good and I do mean finger-licking. We were pleased we stopped in for a visit.
In addition to baked goods, Sweet Dee’s serves breakfast, lunch, and brunch on the weekends. You can see their menu here. While the seating inside is limited, there is patio space which is perfect for a lovely day. If I lived in Scottsdale, I’d be a regular patron.
