The Original Goodie Shop is a small, cozy bakery nestled in Upper Arlington, a suburb in the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area. It has always exceeded my expectations. I’ve tried their cakes as well as their sugar cookies; both are finger-licking delicious. I appreciate their extended hours during the week and on Saturdays. I also love that this bakery consistently has neat or specialty designs for their cookies. Their cookies are also not cookie-cutter; you can go to a dozen bakeries in the Columbus, Ohio area and you will not find a cookie that tastes like what the Original Goodie Shop offers. On Grubhub, it has a 97 percent rating as of Sept. 2023.
They go out of their way to make neat cookie designs including an Upper Arlington bear cookie that is available most weeks. They are also officially licensed to sell OSU-branded products. This means they have a contract with The Ohio State University to reproduce certain products exactly, and they reportedly send part of the money from each sale back to The Ohio State University. Bucks will love this.
Additionally, cakes from the Original Goodie Shop are exquisitely decorated. Although they have a variety of donuts, I am not a huge fan of donuts, and have never tried donuts from the Original Goodie Shop. If you are a donut fan, they offer cake, sugar, twist, glazed, plain, jelly filled, custard filled and a host of other donuts. In addition to donuts, cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, they also offer muffins, sweet rolls, pizza bread, coffee cake, brownies, quiche, pies, Danishes, dinner rolls and more. I should note that my dog tends to love their doggie biscuits. One of the things that I like about this gem is their friendly staff. I also love that they’re open 6 days a week; no waiting until Tuesday. The bakery’s doors are open Monday through Saturday.
