It was like a dream!
My family recently spent several fabulous days in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the trip was unforgettable. In fact, it was like a dream. Below is a snapshot of the experiences that made us smile.
- Phoenix Zoo. Our family has a thing for zoos, making a point to visit as many as possible when we travel. Our favorite zoos in the United States are, in this order, the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, the San Diego Zoo and the Phoenix Zoo. As soon as our plane touched down, we went to the zoo. While our daughter wanted to visit several days of our short trip, we simply didn’t have the time. But this visit was extra special as we rented a Scooterpal, a motorized scooter outfitted like an animal, and zoomed through the massive attraction. From petting sting rays to watching elephants, my daughter loved everything about this visit. One of the things we noticed this trip was the equestrian center. We absolutely loved petting the horses and visiting with them.
- Horseback Riding at Cave Creek Outfitters. Our daughter loves the cartoon Spirit as well as other horse-related movies on Netflix. Needless to say, she was ready for an extended ride on a horse. We went on an hour-long ride with a guide named Rick at Cave Creek Outfitters. Her horse was Joey and mine was Kincaid. Horseback riding in the desert was scenic and thrilling.
- Bakery Tour. It is no secret that I love visiting bakeries when I travel. While I couldn’t remember the name of the bakery, I visited the last time I was in Phoenix (in December 2022), I made sure to write down every bakery we visited this trip. Head over to The Best Bakeries In blog to learn my favorites and why. But quickly, here are a few of the spots that caught my attention and one word that describes each one:
- Beg Bakery & Creamery – Fun
- Barb’s Bakery – Delicious
- Nami Vegan Bakery – Inviting
- Urban Cookie Bakeshop – Appetizing
- Sweet Dee’s – Glamorous
- Essence Bakery Cafe – Posh
- The Garage Boutique & Concept Store. We did very little shopping this trip but we managed to visit The Garage Boutique. It was a child’s dream. The clothes were stylish and fashionable and the selection of children’s shoes were also amazing. I escaped after buying my daughter one outfit and a sweater.
- Restaurants. We visited so many amazing eateries. Places that met our immediate need, and will forever be in our hearts and minds. Check here after April 4 for a list of the places that we’re sure to visit on the next trip.
